We have started the fall training as the temps have dropped under 15 C. Ohkola sledding center is again open for cart training . I had 3 of my dogs with me and we mixed them between teams just to get everybody dogs to try a rookie with more experienced ones.

We visited Stockholm WW show 6.7.2008. Iiris participated and placed second in junior class. Well done without coat. There were 110 malamutes entered but many were absent probably because of lacking coats. It was nice to meet friends and we had a wonderful time together.

Show news from January 2008

Turku International Show, judge Martha Heine ,Germany. Entry 33 malamutes. Una Nuna's Wild Iris 'Iiris' was placed 2nd best female from junior class. She got res CAC.

placed Best male 2nd, and got resCAC,res CACIB, photo below.

Bogi , Fin Ch ,Nord Winner-05, Jun-W -04 , Una Nuna's Want To Be Wow has pulled the official weight pulling test in 2nd March -08. The limit to pass is 5 times own weigh but Bogi pulled 17,7 times his own weight, 700 kg in just 11 seconds.

This gives him the title KVK1 and he is allowed to utility class in dogshows in Finland. Bogi s owned by Sofia Hongell, Amaqug kennels.

Some nice news : We have won again for the second year in a row the Finnish Alaskan Malamute Specialty breeder's class. Otso went BOB veteran and Tekla BOS veteran. Both also placed in best male & female competitions as 3rd best . Taiga ( U N Wannabe Ice Girl) won her class and got res-CAC and Nuki ( U N Wintermind Will ,owned by T Rajasilta) got 'very good' and placed second in his class behind lovely Kataum Inua's Izimik, 'Miki', which is the daddy of our Luna puppies from this spring.

To complete the wonderful day Susanne Slätis won the males with his beautiful 'Calik' Fin Ch Kataum Inua's Caliyuqtug bred by Erna Upmeijer& Cees Hartveld in Holland.

Otso also went on winning in Iitti Group show 2nd June taking BOB and BOB veteran and BIS-4 veteran. Otso is nearing his 10th birthday.

'Örri' ( U N Chief Inspector) owned by Kaija Vesterinen was shown 15th of June in Kotka International , he won his class and went on as 3rd best male in competition class and got Res-CAC. He was shown in Youth class.

Our newest rascal: Iiris , U N Wild Iris out of Kataum Inua's Izimik x Fin Ch Una Nuna's Joy In Fur Coat 'Luna'. Iiris is a very lively puppy who likes to jump and run and again run and jump! Iiris will be 5 months by the end of June. More photos of her later!

I have had some computer problems lately. That's why my web pages are dragging behind in updates. In between Otso has been winning BOB veteran in International Show in Lahti end of April, judge from Sweden, Mr Bodegård. Tekla placed BOS-veteran. Photos of my oldies in this show below. Both also got Excellent and placed 3rd best male and 3rd best female. Entry was 25 mals.

Tekla went BOS, she is 8 years so I'm showing her now in the veteran class.

More show news: Tuula Rajasilta's 'Nuki' , U N Wintermind Will (Chief Crown Shamanrock x U N Living With Joy) went BOB and got CAC in Ruovesi show under Finnish judge Pekka Teini. This was already 2nd CAC for Nuki even if he has been on very limited showing.

Some training equipmen taddition has happened: I have got a new training cart from Germany, very clever system keeping the brakes permanently down while handling the team. I've started to train during the colder days with it and I'm very pleased to it.

Puppies are now 5 weeks. They have all beautiful pigmentation, good coats and lively energetic temperaments. We try to get some photos next weekend.

Last weekend I participated with Sussi and Kristiina to Akry 12 km race in middle part of Finland. The temperature was high, -1 C and the trail was partially soft. Our time was 1h 7 minutes. There were 6 malamute teams, 6 samoyed teams and 20 siberian teams. Some photos below.

Training day for 5 malamute teams in Myrskylä at Susse and Magnus. Wonderful weather -10 and sun shining. Magnus had done very good trails for us. Some photos below.

After couple of warmer days we now have got minus 14 again and sledding is much more fun for the dogs . Yesterday we got our soft trails a little bit worked down with two teams .

Otso is back in harness after his stomach problems last week. Puppies are growing and starting to walk and play. They are now 3 weeks. Some photos of them are here for you to enjoy:)
